WMC Foundation, originally titled Wrangell Medical Center Foundation, was formed under Alaska Articles of Incorporation signed on November 16, 2005. Former Wrangell Medical Center CEO, Brian Gilbert and the WMC Board of Directors formed this charitable organization, in part, to promote health care education and give assistance to cancer patients seeking treatment outside their local community. WMC Foundation continues this mission of donating money to Cancer Care recipients and Health Careers Scholarships a non-profit charitable and fund-raising institution for the benefit and welfare of the people of Wrangell, Alaska and surrounding areas and for the purposes of supporting and promoting the healthcare missions of “Cancer Care” and “Health Careers Scholarship” activities, contributions, and/or distributions. All contributions,
donations and gifts to the WMC Foundation are exempt from federal income taxation pursuant to Sections 501(c)(3), 509(a)(3) (a)(1) and
170(b)(1)(A)(iii) & (iv) and (c)(1) & (2) of the Internal Revenue Code, by soliciting, receiving, managing, administering, and distributing funds or other gifts to or for the benefit of WMC Foundation.
